McGregor
motto "S Rioghail mo Dhrea" "Royal is my Race"

McNie is a
Sept of Clan MacGregor
I was born in Falkirk, Scotland in 1948. My father Frank was a tradesman,
my mother, Margaret, hailed from Ayrshire. My ancestry traces back via Edinburgh and
Stirling to the McNie's at the Lake of Menteith in 1735. I like to think they were part
of Rob Roy's band of reevers although I've found no evidence of this, it is fertile ground
for a vivid imagination. My Mother died when I was six years old leaving me with a
void, which was only filled after several years of marriage to June Marina, my Highland
Lassie.
We have two daughters, Morvern is an accomplished performance poet.
Sarra is a wonderful figure painter. We have two dogs and two cats and a turtle all artistic in their
own way. June Marina is perhaps the only sane member of the family, but she also has her
moments.
I've been writing poetry off and on since age sixteen after was told by the Falkirk
Employment Center, that the battery of psychological tests I had just taken suggested that
I was best suited to be a poet, (their first ever). I was offered an office job, it being the
closest match on their books. We moved to Toronto, Canada shortly after where June and I have
owned several Scottish restaurants: -Tartan Annie's, Hamish's Kitchen, McNie's Lovely
Grub, to name a few.
I have read poetry on Toronto radio and had a few pieces published
I anxiously await
my first royalty payment but I'm not quite ready to give up my day job yet.

"While there's leaves in the forest
And foam on the river,
MacGregor, despite them,
Shall flourish forever!"
Sir Walter Scott
