"Verily I say unto you,
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed,
ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence
to yonder place; and it shall remove; and
nothing shall be impossible to you."
Matthew 17:20

Quiet Faith
A tree is never known to ask
That it may grow serene and tall...
But quietly it grows and grows,
And never thinks of growth at all.
Each rose that blooms in bright June days
Is never known to question why...
It merely drinks in sun and rain
Without fear that it will die.
Each silver sea gull in the air
Soars high and free and unafraid...
He never questions in his flight,
But sails and sails through sun and shade.
O may we have deep roots of faith,
And grow in beauty, tall, serene...
May we seek pinnacles of light
With love around and in between.
Josepha Emma

Three Lessons
There are three lessons I would write,
Three words, as with a golden pen,
In tracings of eternal light
Upon the hearts of men
Have hope! Through clouds environ round
And gladness hides her face in scorn,
Put thou the shadow from thy brow...
No night but has its morn.
Have faith! Where'er thy bark is driven,
The calm's disport, the tempest's mirth.
Know this; God rules the hosts of heaven,
The inhabitants of earth.
Have love! Not love alone for one,
But man as man thy brother call,
And scatter, like the circling sun,
Thy charities on all.
Thus grave these words upon thy soul..
Hope, faith and love, and thou shalt find
Strength when life's surges maddest roll,
Light when thou else wert blind.
Johann Chistoph Friedrick von Schiller

The Green Bough
A Chinese proverb of long ago
Is the lovliest I've heard...
"If your heart will hold a bough of green,
God will send a singing bird."
For the green bough that is in your heart
Is your faith in God above,
And the singing bird our Father sends
Is the blessing of his love
