Little Kitty Angels

I love my little kitty
her coat is so warm.
And if I don't hurt her
She'll do me no harm
I won't pull her tail,
Or drive her away
And kitty and I
Very gently will play

Kitty Kisses

Sandpaper kisses
on a cheek or a chin-
that is the way
for a day to begin!

Sandpaper kisses-
a cuddle and a purr.
I have an alarm clock
that's covered in fur!

Pussy Can Sit by the Fire and Sing

Pussy can sit by the fire and sing,
Pussy can climb a tree
Or play with a silly old cork and string
To 'muse herself, not me.
But I like Binkie my dog, because
He knows how to behave;
So, Binkie's the same as the First Friend was,
And I am the Man in the Cave!

Pussy will play Man Friday till
It's time to wet her paw
and make her walk on the window-sill
(For the footprint Crusoe saw);
Then she fluffles her tail and mews,
And scratches and won't attend
But Binkie will play whatever I choose,
And he is my true First Friend!

Pussy will rub my knees with her head
Pretending she loves me hard;
But the very minute I go to my bed
Pussy runs out in the yard,
And there she stays till the morning-light;
So I know it is only pretend
And he is my Firstest Friend.
Rudyard Kipling

A shivering scrap edges from the cat basket,
and vanishes behind the sofa.
"Poor little soul," they say,
"Perhaps a little quiet, a little milk."
"Don't startle her."

By morning she has scattered food across the kitchen.
Established a bed in the linen basket.
Removed the vegetables from the rack.
Shredded a roll of toilet paper.
Climbed the lace curtains - to their detriment.
Walked milk into the passage.
Used her box - with a vigorous displacement of the litter.
And fallen asleep on the stove.

She wakes and beams at the first person down.
"I like it here," she signals.
"How about a game of string?"

Kittens! Kittens!

Kittens kittens everywhere
Kittens chewing on my hair
Kittens climbing up my jeans
Kittens hanging from the screens
There's a kitten in my cup, how rude!
It's gone to far in that intrude.

Kittens fighting on the chairs
Kittens tumbling down the stairs
There's a kitten on my head
There's a kitten in the bread!
There's a kitten in my shoe
I don't believe we just have two!

Kitten's Night Thoughts

When Human Folk put out the light
And think they've made it dark as night,
A Pussy Cat sees every bit
As well as when the lights are lit.

When Human Folk have gone upstairs
And shed their skins and said their prayers,
And there is no one to annoy,
Then Pussy may her life enjoy.

No human hands to pinch or slap,
Or rub her fur against the nap,
Or throw cold water from a pail,
Or make a handle of her tail.

And so you will not think it wrong,
When she can play the whole night long,
With no one to disturb her play,
That Pussy goes to bed by day.
